Hurricane Season 2009
Hurricane season officially runs from June 1st to November 30th with the peak months being August and September. Typical hurricane seasons produce ten tropical storms with six becoming hurricanes. If you are interested in hurricanes we suggest the Federal Emergency Management Agency's hurricane web page at http://www.fema.gov/hazard/hurricane as a good place to start.
You can also find hurricane preparedness information in FEMA's pamphlet:

News and Information

July 2009 – H1N1 Update: The Ledge Light Health District and CT Dept of Public Health continue to monitor the H1N1 virus in preparation for its return to North America during the fall flu season. While it is too early to tell if the virus will develop a resistance to traditional treatments, it is always advisable to take the necessary sanitary precautions as you would with seasonal flu or cold illnesses. Visit the Ledge Light Health District’s page or the CT Dept of Public Health’s page for suggestions on how to protect yourself from contracting illness and for the latest information on the H1N1 virus.
