Working under the direction of the Secretary of the State and guided by the Connecticut General Statutes, the Registrars of Voters are responsible for maintaining the accuracy of the registry list and updating the voter files; conducting and supervising all elections and primaries; training election officials; ensuring the proper maintenance of 30 voting machines; and conducting the mandated canvass of electors.

The Registrars conduct special registration sessions at Robert E. Fitch High School and Ella T. Grasso Southeastern Regional Vocational Technical School in the spring. Supervised absentee balloting is held at local nursing/convalescent homes as well.
